Season Update Summer 2015

Hi, everyone! It's been a while since my last post, which I apologize for; but I have good reason! I've been working at a local nursery for the past few months, which has kept me really busy...and exhausted! They had me in charge of the veg and herbs, so I got some great learning experiences as well as the chance to shop while at work.
So, I kind of ended up with a few more plants than I meant to for my first garden, but it's been working out to my advantage, so far! Let me share some pictures of the progress I've made so far:

About a week ago, I decided to give seeds a go because I've got the perfect area for them to get warmth but not too much sunlight. From seed, I've started rosemary, chamomile, oregano, basil, cilantro, parsley, and two different types of lavenders. As you can see, I reused the pots I brought my (now) bigger plants home in. All of the containers I've planted in this season have been recycled or upcycled in one way or another.

Here's another angle of the starts. There are a few already sprouting!

So far, cilantro and basil have been the most eager to get out into the open air. I'm pretty stinking excited at their success and am looking forward to seeing the growth of the rest!

The first plant I put my hands on with the intent to buy was the Lemon Boy tomato six pack, which was chosen at the encouragement of my boss. I've got a couple of babies on those plants, so far. I also got a Brandywine tomato--to try my hand with an heirloom--and a Sunsugar--to try my hand with a cherry. They're both still fairly small because I procrastinated planting them....

I didn't get nearly all the herbs I wanted; but I got a decent starter kit, I think! Pictured here is spearmint, two plants of holy basil, self heal, feverfew, and yarrow.

Of course, I couldn't resist getting a strawberry plant! While I was growing up, my mom always grew vast quantities of strawberries in our backyard; and there's nothing quite like strawberries fresh off the soil! This plant is everbearing, so I'm looking forward to lots of strawberries throughout the season!

The feverfew is blooming, right now. Such lovely little flowers!

I tucked my lavender plants behind my bigger tomatoes to give them plenty of shade. Still no sprouts from these guys, but I'm optimistic!

I would love to see your gardens, as well!
